Where it started...
Where did my journey as an artist start? Well, honestly, that’s a tricky question. I’ve loved art since I was little. I grew up in a crafty, entrepreneurial family where we were always encouraged to play with paints, draw cards and pictures, and think creatively. I think I’ve always known I wanted to be an artist, but I didn’t know if I was going to make it my actual career until I was about 12–13. That’s when I finally decided I wanted to take it further than just doodles in my sketchbook or the occasional watercolor painting for family.
My parents supported me unconditionally, helping me with everything from setting up my Etsy shop in the beginning to landing big illustrating jobs. My mom even helped me edit my debut novel, The Fernshade Chronicles: Fernhaven Rising (published February 2026).
In 2023, I started my Etsy shop, Flora & Designs, began listing, and got my first few sales. I also took an art class by fellow artist Mariah Brancheau, who taught me about my love for acrylic paints and florals. From what I learned from her, I let my creativity blossom and developed my own style with flora and animals.
In 2024, things really began to pick up when I displayed a painting during the Young Artist Exhibit in April and later that summer participated in my first art gallery exhibit for Art In The Loft’s Summerview showing, which ran from April to August. I was the youngest artist there. That exhibit brought me so many blessings and fueled me to start selling at several local locations in my town, help paint a mural with fellow artist Sydney Compeau, and achieve even more in 2025.
I taught my first two classes in 2025, continued as an exhibiting artist at Art In The Loft, self-published my coloring book Fantasies & Fairytales: A Magical Coloring Book, and sold art at a local art fair, Harmony Weekend. Throughout the year, I also worked on my book Fernhaven Rising—both the illustrations and the manuscript. I completed seven custom commission paintings for a customer on my Etsy shop as well.
Of course, this story is always growing and there will always be more added, as
I plan to continue down the path of an artist for a long time to come! The
story is still writing itself every day.

What inspires you?
Much of my inspiration comes from the things that bring me joy: a matching color palette, endless summer afternoons, the towering forests, woodland creatures, a beautifully painted sunrise, the way the light comes through the trees, blooming wildflowers, leaping foxes (of course), and really just anything lovely in life.
Why do you create art?
One of my favorite things about my artwork and writing is weaving Jesus into my work-sometimes boldly, sometimes softly-so that readers can glimpse His love even if they don’t know it yet by name. I create to bring some light into this world and to offer the same spark of inspiration that so many others have given me. Ultimately, every word and brushstroke is an attempt to bring glory to my Creator, who so carefully crafted me and this beautiful world I get to live in.
Favorite animal?
This one's easy! Foxes. I love foxes so, so very much and find myself always wanting to paint them. Of course I love a lot of other creatures and they are the subjects of many of my pieces, but nothing quite gives me the same spark of joy as a cute, cuddly fox :)
What's your favorite medium?
For the longest time my favorite was watercolors. I understood the way it blended and the way the colors worked with water. I'd tried acrylics, but I found them dry and never could get the finished piece to look the way I wanted. That was until I took Mariah's Brancheau's lovely acrylic floral class. She taught the basics of painting florals in acrylics and I fell in love with acrylic paints! I practiced what she'd taught me for a while and then began to develop my own style with florals, animals and landscapes.
Favorite flower?
Currently my favorite flowers are lilacs, sunflowers, lavender, forget-me-nots and foxglove! I love just about any flower, though.
Do you have any upcoming projects?
Always ;)
